The very first question we are asked by new members of One Stop Racing is:
How do I use the ratings?
This is understandable as when confronted by One Stop Ratings for the very first time all you can see is a lot of numbers.
There is no definitive way of using One Stop Ratings or any other Horse Racing Ratings for that matter, however, below are 3 ways that the ratings can be used, we are certain that as your journey progresses you will uncover many more.
1) THE CONSENSUS METHOD (version 1.jb)
The Consensus Method is fast way of getting going with One Stop Ratings.
Navigate to the ratings for the day you wish to study and go to the “Full Ratings” section, look for the races where all the columns have the same horse top rated i.e. top ranked on LR, HS , SR and OSR.
You will see the ratings presented as shown below with the top rated in every column in bold. When all the bold numbers are lined up we have a consensus and that horse is a selection on the Consensus Method.
Version 1.jb – One Stop Ratings Member James contacted us recently and added a couple of modifications that make perfect sense, firstly he eliminates those races where 20% or more of the horses have incomplete data. We call these the NEDs (not enough data).
Then he eliminates all races where there are joint top ranked on any of the 4 ratings.
Final criteria for The Consensus Method (version 1.jb)
- Top Ranked on all 4 columns LR, HS , SR and OSR
- Eliminate the NED’s
- Eliminate any races where there are joint top ranked in any column.

On Saturday 24th May 2021 Ten horses qualified for the Consensus Method and 7 of them won.
The best priced winner on the day was SARAMANGA in the 5.25 Sandown who stayed on to take top honours at 8/1.
Word of warning be wary of races where most of the horses have never run, that is those that do not have an LR rating. There are too many unknowns in these races to make them a viable betting proposition.
You need to be a Ratings Member or a Full Member of One Stop Racing to use the consensus method.
2) THE 40+ METHOD
Qualifiers for the 40+ Method are those top rated horses that are at least 40 points clear of the next rated in the race. You can find these by navigating to the “Top Rated + Points Clear” Tab, and noting those horses that are rated at least 40 points ahead.
This section of One Stop Ratings is split into non handicaps and handicaps. In our experience you will get a higher strike rate from the non handicaps but you are likely to get higher odds on the handicaps.

3) THE SYSTEMS METHOD
Slightly different from the other 2 methods the Systems Method combines the power of the One Stop Ratings with the might of the One Stop Systems.
One Stop Systems are fully researched and as a stand alone they do perform very well , however, when qualifiers are also Top Rated (Golden Systems) on One Stop Ratings the strike rate increases. Second Rated Horses (Silver Systems) also enjoy a very favourable winner to runner ratio.
